Obesity Surgery WA

Obesity Surgery WA is lead by Dr Harsha Chandraratna. Harsha was born in Sri Lanka and moved to Tasmania in 1974 and then to Perth in 1980. He went to high school here and graduated at UWA. He then began his surgical training and was made a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2001.

He undertook post-fellowship training in Perth and then in Leeds (UK) in Liver and Kidney Transplantation as well as Bariatric Surgery. He is currently a supervisor and a trainer for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and a senior lecturer for Notre Dame University. He understands that there is more to surgery than just technical skills and hopefully that will become apparent to you when you meet him.

Dr Chandraratna understands the impact of obesity, and the steps that are involved when you embark on a weight loss journey involving surgery. He personally had sleeve gastrectomy surgery, which gives him a really deep level of understanding when he works with his patients on a daily basis.
